Bloging

So now that I don't work in an office as you may have noticed, I don't post noggins as much. Which got me to thinking. Blogs are for people who work at a desk or cubicle, or someone with a job that has readily available internet acceess. And one other ver important thing, the ability to waste massive amounts of time.

Since I work in a machine shop now I'm constantly moving around. Besides having dirty clothes on all day, if you stop working and waste time to post a blog, like I am now via blackberry, its pretty obvious you aren't working. Man I miss being in an office. I miss complaining about being bored. I recall times when I would feel like I had seen all the internet had to offer. Now I feel like I'm missing out. Wondering how many internet memes that have come and gone. Tosh.0 goes over my head now.

So, to all my 5 readers I'm sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I've been web-neutered.

Till next time, check out the archives and remember how awesome I was in 2007.

Lovingly,
Kirk

ghetto jack in the box revisited.

So, I went back to the ol' ghetto jack in the box in berkeley. They got a face lift! The outside kinda looks the same but updated signs. The most glaring difference is that they got rid of the 2" thick bullet proof glass. I think it really gave the Ghetto Jack in the Box it's charm.

Not to worry, in the 5 or so minutes I was there I witnessed something that reminded me of the old Jack in the Box. Handfull of curly fries fell out of a customers bag and was left on the counter. As the next customer, an old guy getting a coffee asks the worker lady "hey can I have that?" . The worker looked at him like 'are you serious' and he half embarrassed turned around and took his coffee. As he did this the worker wiped the fries into a napkin and said under breath "...it's garbage".

So, it seems that while you can take the ghetto out of the jack in the box, you can't take it out of the ghetto.

(If this post looks weird its because I'm posting it via email)

Corrupted Corrupt

My art was featured in the newest issue of Corrupt Magazine! I dont know why though because I thought it was a total bullshit doodle I did on a post-it right before I threw it away. but party on, excellent for them being into it enough to publish it. One man's trash/art is another mans treasure/art.

It's pretty cool tho, there's some really big names on the other pages in there. Sean Cliver and my buddy Alex "ToiletTown" Duke. You should check it out.

Graphic Design Jobs and the declining landscape of America.

First of all after looking for design jobs I keep seeing ads looking for designer slash... something else. Too many employers looking for designer slash employees. As if being creative is something any I.T. Guy, programmer or receptionist can do. Design needs to be its own job. Why is it such a problem to have a design dept only do design, why do employers think that's not enough. Why do they have to be the utility employee?

You have a bunch of assholes taking those generic design school classes that treat graphic design like welding or carpentry. They are ruining the graphic design craft, taking jobs from artists (while charging way too much for bullshit work).

That's why America looked so much cooler in the 60's people actually valued style. Commercially anyway. Everything now is fake brick, stuccoed styrafome, beige and mauve colored cardboard. Everything looks the same in backlit fluorescent Arial font boxes.. You know all that really cool vintage signage they dig for and sell for lots of money on that show American Pickers? You'll never see a show like that in 50 years with dudes pining after vintage 2003 vinyl lettering stuck to plastic.

It's a shame... And no one gives a shit. It's all about making money now and not about making a quality product. Greed, capitalism... it's fucking up everything.

and the Oil mother fucking spills.
